Published 09. 12. 2022

Representatives of the IEM CAS, led by Ing. Jan Topinka, CSc., DSc. (Head of the Dept. of Genetic Toxicology and Epigenetics), participated in yesterday's opening conference of the INTERREG Czech Republic – Saxony 2021–2027 programme, which took place in Ústí nad Labem.
The programme is targeted at cooperation projects between the Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem and Liberec Regions and selected regions of Saxony. The IEM CAS, together with other partners (e.g. Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem), is preparing a project for an activity called "Prevention, mitigation and addressing the impacts of environmental risks caused by climate change". We plan to prepare and submit the project, which will primarily focus on analysing the risks associated with deteriorating air quality in the mentioned regions in 2023.
The INTERREG Czech – Saxony 2021–2027 programme supports the economic and social development of the common border region through Czech-Saxon cooperation projects. The programme will receive a total of EUR 152,364,000 from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in the grant period 2021-2027, of which a total of EUR 142.3 million is available for projects and EUR 10 million for technical support for the implementation of the programme.
