We would like to inform you about the extraordinary success of our scientists from the Department of Molecular Biology of Cancer IEM CAS, whose project entitled "Taste perception, oxidative damage and colon microenvironment in colorectal carcinogenesis: impacts on the disease risk, prognosis and prevention" was nominated for the "Minister's Prize" for medical research and development for 2020.

 

In total 19 best projects from 9 expert panels were proposed.

 

At the end of last week an official presentation of these projects took place at the headquarters of the Czech Health Research Council (AZV ČR) at a joint meeting of the AZV ČR Research Board and the AZV ČR Board. The Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Czech Academy of Sciences was represented by the initiator of the project and the main researcher Pavel Vodička, MD, Ph.D.

 

AZV ČR is organizational component of state directly under jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. Agency is separate accounting unit with main purpose of supporting applied research in health care in conformity with Act no. 130/2002 Coll., on the Support of Research and Development from Public Funds and on the Amendment to Some Related Acts.

 

Based on a joint vote, the members of the AZV ČR Boards will select projects that they will propose to the Minister of Health who will award the main prize - "Minister's Prize", or "Honorable Mention".

 

The award ceremony will take place in December 2020.

 

The nomination itself for such an important award is a huge success for our scientists. We cordially congratulate them and thank them for their work. At the same time, we wish them that their 5-year scientific effort is awarded the highest prize - the "Minister's Prize".
