Dr. Radim Sram, from the Department of Genetic Ecotoxicology received the honorary medal of J.E. Purkyně for merit in biomedical sciences
Dr. Radim Sram, is an internationally recognized scientist in the field of genetic toxicology, molecular epidemiology, and studies of the influence of polluted air on the health of the population. His results have shown the significant risk of air pollution by carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons that may, in the long term, adversely affect the health status of the population over the coming decades. Dr. Šram is internationally very active, he has been the manager of 15 international grants - PHARE, EU, HEI (USA), NIEHS (USA), 1993-1995 as President of the European Environmental Mutagen Society. He received the EEMS Fritz Sobels Prize for 2000. In 2008 he was awarded the Prize of the Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic and the Czech Head Award. He is still very active in his scientific work, has published more than 250 papers in IF journals quoted according to SCI 4450 times, his h-index is 39. He has been chairman of the Environment Commission AS CR since 2001.
