This extraordinary award, named after the first Czechoslovak Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, is awarded by the Research Institute of Occupation Safety (VÚBP) under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MPSV) .

In the first year of the competition, the expert commission selected the three best graduate theses, including the dissertation of our young colleague Táňa Závodná, which deals with the evaluation of potential toxic effects of nanomaterials, specific aspects of their testing and issues related to nanomaterial safety management.

The award includes an internship within VÚBP, led by experts in the field of occupational safety and health, nanotechnology, ergonomics, risk management and many others.

The ceremony was under strict epidemiological measures on 14 December in the VÚBP building, with the participation of the director of the VÚBP PhDr. David Michalík, Ph.D., DBA and the head of the Department of Labor Inspection and Safety of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Mgr. Bc. Lucie Kyselová.

Táňa Zavodná, Ph.D. 

The thesis titled „Nanoparticle Safety Management with Regard to Occupational Safety“ deals with the evaluation of potential toxic effects of nanomaterials, specific aspects of their testing and issues related to nanomaterial safety management. The aim of the thesis was to propose a strategy of nanomaterial risk management to assist small and medium-sized enterprises to implement adequate measures to ensure their employee safety.
