The prestigious journal Nature - Molecular Psychiatry (IF 15.99) published a co-authored article by neuroscientists from the IEM CAS

Published 26. 08. 2022

A few weeks ago, a new review article titled "The extracellular matrix and perineuronal nets in memory", co-authored by neuroscientists from the Centre Neurorecon / Dept. of Neuroregeneration of the IEM CAS, the University of Cambridge, the University of Leeds, the University of Oslo and the Legacy Research Institute in Portland was published in the highly ranked scientific journal Nature - Molecular Psychiatry (IF 15.99).

In this article, the researchers focused on the role of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and the perineural network (PNN) in controlling synaptic plasticity and modulating memory. Long-term studies have suggested that PNNs are one possible therapeutic target for the treatment of impaired memory, e.g., modulation of the sulphation, binding, and production of the various chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans that they contain or through digestion of their sulphated glycosaminoglycans.
