Invitation to the Institutional seminar of the IEM CAS

Published 02. 05. 2023

Don't miss Thursday's Institutional seminar of the IEM CAS. This time our scientists will talk about two exciting topics:

The base excision repair machinery in oocytes and early embryos

  • Lecturer: Nataliia Dudko, MSc. / Department of Cell Nucleus Plasticity
  • Annotation:  It is known that the level of de novo mutations in mammalian germ cells is lower than in somatic cells. The reasons for this phenomenon are not fully understood. However, it may be due to higher levels of repair factors, greater accessibility of chromatin, or increased elimination of germ cells with DNA damage. According to our hypothesis, oocytes have both elevated levels of repair factors and higher chromatin accessibility, due to which they repair single-strand breaks more efficiently.

In vitro efficacy of 3D printed bone grafts

  • Lecturer: Ing. Alexandra Wagner, Ph.D. / Department of Tissue Engineering
  • Annotations:  Currently, various kinds of materials are used for the treatment of bone defects. In this study, we assessed the effectiveness of five different calcium phosphate scaffolds to provide a suitable environment for Saos-2 osteosarcoma cell line in terms of cell proliferation and osteogenic differentiation.

The seminar will be held in person on Thursday, 4th May 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Turquoise Auditorium of the IEM CAS.

We are looking forward to your participation.
