Invitation to the Institutional seminar of the IEM CAS - Properties of NG2 glia on nanostructured biomaterials

Published 03. 05. 2022

We would like to invite you to the next Institutional seminar of the IEM CAS about "Properties of NG2 glia on nanostructured biomaterials".

Despite cancelling current preventive measures, we recommend respiratory protection with an FFP2 respirator. Protect yourself and the others around you.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to your participation.

5th May 2022  / 14:00 / Turquoise Auditorium of the IEM CAS

Lecturer:
Mgr. Ján Kriška, Ph.D. / Dept. of Cellular Neurophysiology

Annotation:
Given the neuroregenerative potential of NG2 glia, this cell type represents an attractive target for biomaterials aiming to recover the functional and structural features of injured neural tissue in neuroregenerative medicine and tissue engineering. However, very little information is currently available regarding the interaction of NG2 glia with biomaterials interface, and the impact of the chemical-physical properties of biomaterials on the structural and functional properties of NG2 glia. The goal of the present project has been to fill in this gap in knowledge and to determine the molecular and functional characteristics of NG2 glia grown on advanced nanotechnological surfaces.

The aim of this seminar is to share the knowledge and experience gained during an international research internship at the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity, National Research Council, in Bologna, Italy.

This internship was supported by the "International mobility of employees from the IEM CAS" grant, co-financed by the Operational Program Research, Development and Education, and provided by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
